SANTA MONICA VOLLEYBALL CLUB PROGRAMS

Club Volleyball
The Club fields Travel teams which compete in SCVA tournaments in all age divisions, ranging from 12-Under through 18-Under. Players in the 5th through 8th grades who choose not to travel, or are not selected for a travel team, may participate in our "area team" training program.
Through the Travel and "area programs", the Club attempts to serve as many athletes as possible each Club season!

Travel Teams
Those players selected for a travel team will train for, and compete in,
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA VOLLEYBALL ASSOCIATION (SCVA) tournaments and a post-season tournament. See www.scvavolleyball.org for more information. The SCVA is a regional affiliate of
USAVolleyball ("USAV"), the national governing body for amateur volleyball, and all tournament matches are played in accordance with USAV Rules. The SCVA is made up of club teams in all age divisions from San Diego County to San Luis Obispo County and east to Las Vegas. Each year, approximately 850 teams participate in SCVA tournaments. The Club season extends from December through June. Travel Teams travel to and compete in at least one to two SCVA tournaments each month, approximately eight to ten tournaments over the course of the season depending on the age division. The 17U and 18U teams also participate in the SCVA Las Vegas Invitational Tournament. Travel Teams who qualify will also participate at the Junior Olympics during late June or early July.

The USAVolleyball Junior Olympics is a national elite tournament which requires teams to qualify to receive a berth. Its venue changes from year to year. Travel Teams who do not qualify for Junior Olympics have the option to partcipate in a post-season tournament, such as the VOLLEYBALL FESTIVAL in Reno, Nevada, which is one of the largest female sporting events with more than 850 teams participating from across the United States and Canada. There are other post-season tournaments offered as well including the USAVJunior National Invitational.

OTHER PROGRAMS
Each sesaon, the Club will offer a variety of programs throughout the summer and fall. These programs will be specifically designed to introduce and teach new young players the exciting sport of volleyball, as well as provide a great opportunity for the more experienced players who want to improve and refine their technique and skills, as well as learn basic team strategies and concepts.

Summer Beach Camps & Fall Clinics
Primarily for Girls going entering their Freshman through Senior year of high school (Grades 9 to 12). Summer camps will focus on fundamental skills and techniques providing a fun environment for new players to learn the game and for more experienced players to improve and refine their technical skills. Players are placed in skill/age level groups where our club staff provides drills and games that are appropriate for that skill level. Clinics are designed to either introduce all basic fundamentals, or focus on and train in specific positions. Camp and Clinic dates are TBA each season (SEE "The Buzz" tab).

Junior Spiker Program
For Girls in 4th thru 8th grades of all skill levels who are looking to be challenged by our quality and dedicated staff while working in a fun environment. Whether just learning the game or wanting to improve skills and fundamentals, this fall program offers an outstanding opportunity to learn the basics of team play, while focusing on the development and refinement of individual skills and technique. For the more experienced players, this program offers in-depth training of the specific skills and strategies associated with each position such as setter, middle blocker, hitter or libero. Players are grouped and train at a level appropriate for their age and ability.
